League of Nations were a minimal new wave band from Los Angeles that were active from roughly 1983 to 1984 and released one LP and a 12″ single that isn’t mentioned on Discogs, but it is listed on Myspace. This could very well be true because “Fade (12″ version) does appear on a couple of compilations. According to Myspace, the B-side of this 12″ is “Thin Ice Wall” and whether it is different from the song “Thin Ice Door”. The LP is quite rare and commands high prices when copies are presented for sale. In 2008, the label that orginally released the LP, Glaze Recordings, reissued it with “Thin Ice Door” as a bonus track (it also appeared on some Flexipop compilations, along with “Fade (12″ version)”. Discogs lists it as being an unofficial release, and I’m not sure of the details of this. It is probably a very limited reissue as well, but I’d make sure to check closely before purchasing a used copy of either record. While members Laurie Jean and David Sinfield appear to have been involved with no further music production after this, one other 12″ remains that can be tracked down by collectors. Prior to the release of Music For the New Depression, a 4-track 7″ was released in 1981. Released under Sinfield’s own name, it was called Oblique Strategy and featured drum programming from Jean.
