The Force Dimension – The Force Dimension (Red Version)
The Force Dimension was a Belgian EBM / synthpop duo that was active from the late 80s to early 90s. There are two different versions of their debut album, the self-titled The Force Dimension. The original version, referred to as the “Blue” version, was produced by Luc Van Acker and J.P. Everaerts (Belgian sound engineer: The Neon Judgement, Mussolini Headkick, etc.). Apparently the band was not entirely happy with the result, so they set out to re-record a new version of it. This version, known as the “Red” version, was produced by themselves with Dirk Ivens (Absolute Body Control, Sonar, Dive). The result is a much puncher, more EBM driven sound. The difference is between the two is evident, besides the slight difference in tracklistings. A comparsion is made below, with two versions of the same track, “Dust”.

XXX Atomic Toejam – A Gathering of the Tribes for the First / Last Human Be-In
XXX Atomic Toejam was a collaboration between tribal industrial act Memorandum and the lead guitarist of popular metal band Meshuggah. Released on renowned Swedish label Cold Meat Industry, the 2-track release is pouding industrial techno with electric guitar, about as far away from CMI’s usual output as you can get. One further song called “I’m A Cop” was the lead-off track on the first CMI compilation, Karmanik Collection. The liner notes of the compilation mention a planned full-length release, that never materialized for some reason. The fan page on Myspace for the group has also included a song from Sepülchre Inc., a previous incarnation of XXX Atomic Toejam. Celebration is a 7″ release from 1989 that is long out of print and a typical EBM song from the 80s.
Tracklisting:
1 God In A Pill (5:46)
2 Human Be-In (7:28)

League of Nations – Music for the New Depression
League of Nations were a minimal new wave band from Los Angeles that were active from roughly 1983 to 1984 and released one LP and a 12″ single that isn’t mentioned on Discogs, but it is listed on Myspace. This could very well be true because “Fade (12″ version) does appear on a couple of compilations. According to Myspace, the B-side of this 12″ is “Thin Ice Wall” and whether it is different from the song “Thin Ice Door”. The LP is quite rare and commands high prices when copies are presented for sale. In 2008, the label that orginally released the LP, Glaze Recordings, reissued it with “Thin Ice Door” as a bonus track (it also appeared on some Flexipop compilations, along with “Fade (12″ version)”. Discogs lists it as being an unofficial release, and I’m not sure of the details of this. It is probably a very limited reissue as well, but I’d make sure to check closely before purchasing a used copy of either record. While members Laurie Jean and David Sinfield appear to have been involved with no further music production after this, one other 12″ remains that can be tracked down by collectors. Prior to the release of Music For the New Depression, a 4-track 7″ was released in 1981. Released under Sinfield’s own name, it was called Oblique Strategy and featured drum programming from Jean.
